SAU PRATISHAT SHUDH COMEDY IN &TV’S AUR BHAI KYA CHAL RAHA HAI?

The show completes 100-episodes milestone

Set against the backdrop of Lucknow, &TV’s Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai? has etched a place in the audience’s hearts for its situational comedy when two culturally opposite families are forced to share a roof, manoeuvre day-to-day concerns small-town-living and highly competitive wives. The show has beautifully captured the long-standing Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb of Lucknow through the two families – the Mishras and the Mirzas, who are cohabiting in an old nawabi haweli. As the show sets to complete 100-episodes milestones, the lead cast goes down memory lane to share their favourite moments, dialogue, scene or a character! Read on to know more.

Several outstanding characters are known to have either a catchphrase or a lucky charm that makes a standout. So what is it about Shanti Mishra that is remarkable and completely unmissable? Farhana Fatema, who essays Shanti Mishra’s character in &TV’s Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai? says, “Every character has a particularly quirky trait that makes them unique. Shanti, too, has one, and it is such a brilliant one that captures her personality so beautifully. That is her world-famous Bindi! Every time she loses her temper and poor Mishra Ji is at the receiving end; she changes her little red Bindi into a big one. I find it hilarious how that move of Bindi signifies her fury. It is simply amazing and out of the box!”

Every actor has that one scene or an episode that they truly enjoyed shooting. Speaking of which, Akansha Sharma, who essays Sakina Mirza’s character in &TV’s Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai? shares, “I have two passions, dancing and acting. And when they both coincide, it makes me the happiest. One of our episodes was centred around a dance competition between Shanti and Sakina. Both of us are dancers in real life, and we thoroughly enjoyed the hours of choreography and practice sessions. The episode was full of glitz and glamour and one of my favourite ones to date.”

Now that Sakina has spoken about her favourite episode, how can her on-screen husband, Zafar Ali Mirza, played by Pawan Singh, stay behind? So he lists down his most favourite dialogue. Kuch log Zafar Ali Mirza jaise hote hain jo chup hi nahi reh sakte kyunki bolna toh unki sabse badi kala hai. Aur dialogue ke bina baat hi nahi banti! Pawan Singh, Zafar Ali Mirza shares, “The best part about the show is its quick-witted and well-timed dialogues. Each character delivers them with snappy tones making the jokes all the more fun. This one time, Mishra was looking to buy his wife a grand gift, he said “Shanti ke liye ek bada sa gift chahiye” and rejects the idea of a gold ring stating that it is too small a gift, and Mirza’s response was such that it cracked me up even while rehearsing. It went like this, “Ek kaam kariye, sone ki angoothi chod dijiye, motorcycle ka bada tyre hi gift dedijiye.”

While every character is important, but some with a small role too can be impactful. Such is the case with Paro, the house help. Ambrish Bobby, who portrays Ramesh Prasad Mishra’s character, says, “I find Paro’s role quite amusing and entertaining. She may not be the main central character, but she still stands out. Paro is the one who lights fires in the haveli, metaphorically speaking and gets away with her notorious gossips too. She is a jovial girl with so much life in her. I have since day one adored her character.”

Last but not least, on 100-episode completion, Annu Awasthi, essaying Bittu Kapoor’s character, speaks about the hilarious scene from the show to date. He says, “In such a short time, we have come across so many hilarious incidents in the show. Each scene is worthy of laughing out loud. While most of my scenes are with Pappu (Sandeep Yadav), recently, we had the ace comedian Raju Srivastav coming as my distant relative and a childhood friend. But his presence never brings luck to Bittu and yet again creates a situation for him. I thoroughly enjoyed shooting for this particular episode and the scenes with Raju Ji. Aur jab do comedians saath ho toh dhamaal toh hona hi hai, on-screen bhi and off-screen bhi!”
